For development partners, NGOs and MSME programmes

Simple enough for day one. Supported every day after.

A licence only creates value if the MSME actually uses it. Shopnest is built to be learnable by a market trader in one sitting — and behind it sits four layers of training, from a person who sits with them to an AI that answers at eleven at night.

Everything described here is live in production. What isn't, we say so — see “What we don't do”

Layer one — the product itself

Easy is a feature, not a slogan

The best training is a product that needs less of it. This is what a seller in your community has on the day they sign up — free tier, on the phone they already own.

A live storefront and one shareable link

Opens on any phone. Pasted into a bio, a status or a group. Up to 20 products free — no card, no expiry.

AI-written product descriptions

Photo and price in, description out. This removes the single biggest drop-off in onboarding: most sellers stall at "describe your product."

One inbox across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook

Every buyer conversation in one place, replies included on the free tier. A seller running four channels stops losing orders in the noise.

Payment straight to their own account

Buyers pay via Paystack, settling directly to the seller. Shopnest holds no seller money and takes no commission on sales.

Everything above is live in production today. What is not live is listed plainly further down, under “What we don't do” — we would rather you hear it from us.
Layers two to four — the support behind it

Nobody is left to work it out alone

Course completion rates are the quiet failure of every digital-skills programme. So we did not build one course — we built four layers, each catching the people the layer above loses.

Layer two · in the product

A written guide for every single thing the platform does

Seventy-two articles covering account, products, orders, payments, affiliate, dropshipping, bookings, community and the boundaries of what we do and don't do — readable on a phone, in plain language, free and public at shopnest.africa/help. Not a marketing FAQ: it is the manual.

Layer three · always on

An AI that answers their question, about their own shop, at any hour

Nestie is grounded in that same knowledge base — a seller types "how do I get paid?" at eleven at night and gets the real answer, not a search results page. This is the difference between a library and a teacher. A recorded course cannot answer a question it was not asked.

Layer four · in person

A certified ProNester who sits with them until the first product is live

Our field network completes a structured curriculum in the Shopnest Academy, is certified, and then works inside their own community — in local language, on the seller's own phone. They are rewarded when the sellers they help grow, so their incentive is the seller's survival, not a signup count.

Why four layers rather than an academy. Video courses are cheap to publish and easy to abandon — the people who most need them are the least likely to finish them. A written manual catches the confident. An AI that answers catches the stuck. A human who turns up catches everyone else. We would rather be judged on how many MSMEs are still trading in week eight than on how many completed a module.
Six areas a development mandate touches

Open whichever of these matter to your programme.

We would rather you tell us which of these is the real priority than guess at it — so this page is built to be read selectively, not top to bottom.

ProNesters is our trained field network. Members complete a structured curriculum in the Shopnest Academy, get certified, and then go into their own communities to set sellers up — in person, in local language, on the seller's own phone. They are rewarded when the sellers they help succeed, so the incentive sits on activation and survival rather than signup counts.

For a training mandate this is the difference between distributing licences and delivering outcomes. It can be extended with programme-specific modules and co-branded certification.

Most MSME digitisation programmes fail at the same point: the tool assumes a laptop, a bank of product photos, and a customer who wants to browse a catalogue. The seller has a phone, a WhatsApp status, and a customer who wants to chat.

Shopnest starts where they already are. Our AI writes the product descriptions, which removes the single biggest drop-off in onboarding — most sellers stall at "describe your product." The free tier is a real product, not a trial: a live storefront, up to 20 products, and a link that works. No card, no expiry.

Cash sales leave no trace, which is exactly why an informal seller cannot demonstrate a trading history to anyone — including a bank.

On Shopnest, payments run on Paystack and settle directly into the seller's own account. Shopnest does not hold seller money and charges no commission on sales. What the seller gains is the by-product: an order record, a confirmed delivery, a history of completed trade in a form someone else can read.

Where a transaction involves more than one party — a dropshipper's margin, an affiliate's commission — that portion is held and released on a trigger, so nobody is paid on an order that never happened. We call this secure payments, and we are deliberate about the wording: it is not a wallet, and we are not a custodian of seller funds.

Not everyone in a target cohort has goods to sell or money to buy them. Affiliate selling, dropshipping, services and delivery all work on the same platform without inventory or a vehicle.

For youth and women's economic-empowerment targets, these are the routes that work when the constraint is capital rather than effort.

A WhatsApp seller can only sell to people who already have their number. Shopnest gives them three ways past that:

  • One link, everywhere — a storefront that opens instantly on any phone and can be shared into any group, bio or status.
  • Publishing to their own Facebook and Instagram — the seller connects their own Page and account, our AI drafts the caption, the seller taps publish.
  • The Nesters Network — the in-platform community where sellers post what they need and find suppliers, partners and buyers among other businesses.
How sellers reach more buyers →

A licence hand-out is hard to report on. A platform is not.

For a funded cohort we can report activation (sellers who published a live storefront), depth (products listed, channels connected), activity (orders created and confirmed) and progression (sellers who outgrew the free tier). Sellers see the same numbers in their own dashboard, which is what makes them keep using it.

Attribution is by cohort code, so a funded group stays distinguishable from the rest of the platform for the life of the programme. Attendance proves a room was full. This proves a business is operating. What exactly gets reported, and how often, is something we would rather scope with your team than assume.

One partner, or three?

Most MSME programmes buy marketing tools, financial tools and organisational tools separately. Worth putting on the table: Shopnest already spans two of those three, and brings the delivery layer that neither of them includes. A seller gets their storefront, their marketing, their order book and their payment rail in one place — and a certified ProNester to set it up.

That is one contract instead of three, one integration instead of three, one set of numbers at the end of the cohort, and one partner accountable for whether sellers actually used the thing.

We are not going to claim we do everything. What we will claim is that the overlap between three separate tools is where MSME programmes usually lose people — a seller who has to learn three products learns none.

What we don't do

On-platform lending, credit scoring and custodial wallets are not Shopnest products. Automatic AI deal-closing and post scheduling are built but not yet switched on, and we will not describe them as available. If any of these matter to your programme, we would rather say so now and talk about how we sit alongside a partner who does them.

Two things we'd suggest next

A trial cohort — give us a slice of your community, no commitment, and we report back what actually happened. And a working session before your October review, so what we put in writing answers your criteria rather than our guess at them.
